How To Be a Medicine Cat
Here on GROW, the life of a Medicine Cat is rather different. For one, there will be more than one Medicine Cat allowed per Clan. Medicine Cats play such an integral role that more than one needs to be available at all times.
On the site, Medicine Cats heal HP, Energy and cure illnesses. This is important, as some illnesses can be fatal, and only Medicine Cats can work against the timer before they kill their host. Also, most illnesses can be contagious. These cats need to be on their paws at all times, as only they and their apprentices can heal the sick and wounded.
The Sraff will not inform you what your clanmates are sick with or how to cure them. Only cures listed off the bat, those for EN and HP, are tried and true methods. Other than those, Medicine Cats will have to look at the symptoms and try to cure them through trail and error. Once treatment is given, the sick cat will be told if their symptoms are abated or have worsened, or new ones have arose.
Even after a successful diagnosis, the illness will not always be so straight forward. Medicine Cats will constantly need to Update Staff so that symptoms and illness names, along with the cure (if found) is listed as a illness. If not, Medicine Cats will have to keep note for themselves.
In regards to Apprentices, they are still learning the trade, and may be apprentices longer than a regular apprentice. While they are just beginning, they can only heal Health and Energy.
Discovering New Herbs
Most of the Medicine Cat's job will also be to gather new plants and herbs. They do not have to pick from the current given list - as plants that you fine will be added to the Botany guide for future reference. Their location, likelihood of being found, and eventually what they cure will be included.
Just like hunting, you will need to make a 100-sided die roll in order to see if you actually find the herbs you need. Unlike hunting, however, you can hunt for herbs as much as you like in a single day. Warriors can help a Medicine Cat in searching, but cannot search for herbs unless in their presence.
To find a herb for the first time, simply state the name of what you are looking for. You will always find it on the first roll - and whatever total you get, that is the liklihood of finding that herb for the future. Please update the Staff when you do this.
